Nurses' knowledge, attitudes and practices related to physical restraint: the case from Turkey

BackgroundNurses are primarily for the care of patients and should ensure that physical restraint, which has many negative consequences, be applied according to standard practice. Therefore, they have knowledge about restraint apply by observing existing laws ethical principles. This study aimed determine level, attitude practices pediatric nurses on identify factors influencing use. MethodsA cross-sectional was conducted involving 150 working in clinic a training research hospital. The data were collected with an information form containing introductory characteristics Level Knowledge, Attitudes Practices Staff Regarding Physical Restraints Questionnaire. Data analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test Kruskal-Wallis test. ResultsOverall, had good restraint-related positive attitudes, although not best there some deficiencies. A statistically non-significant difference found between age, gender, education status, nurses' work unit, status regarding one hand knowledge, practice scores relating use restraints other (p>0.05). ConclusionsPediatric level quite their attitudes positive. However, deficiencies practices. Future therefore emphasized enhance sensitive thinking, increase competence applying patients.
